Me&My Emotions
Empowers people ages 13+ by building resilience skills.
Project Brief
The Dibble Institute asked students to explore how to bring the Mind Matters mental wellness support content and exercises directly to young people, and how to make it all more effective, engaging, and meaningful. Mind Matters has become a go-to tool for adults and professionals working with young people. The curriculum teaches simple skills that cultivate healing and build resilience.
Me & My Emotions is designed to support teens social-emotional learning (SEL) and development. With engaging graphics and bite-sized lessons, Me & My Emotions invites teens to slow down, check in with themselves, and develop practices that align with the same skill sets available in Mind Matters curriculum:
*Self-Soothing and Mindfulness Practices
*Managing Stress Effectively
*Developing Empathy
*Developing a life of Intention
*Building and Using a Support System

Application Iterations
We designed an app to allow users to take online mental health coaching sessions. The app consists of three main "rooms"
Learning: In our Learning Room, we’ve got 12 fun video lessons to help you focus on building resilience and improve mental health. It only takes a couple of minutes to learn something new!
Reflecting: Before you can start to feel better, you have to understand what you’re feeling. The mood tracker and simple journal in our Reflecting Room will help to identify your emotions.
Creating: You can be an artist and a DJ here by using our creative room to make your own art and compose your own music! Creating music and art is a fun and helpful way to calm your body and mind.

Prototyping Ideas

High-fi Prototype
Based on previous user testing, we decided to use contrasting colors to match teens' likes. At the same time, match with the original green colors of the "mind matter". In order to increase the game experience of the app, we increase the fun of making music and painting in the creating room.
